Christina Collins

Nama Nakshatras: Sounds Associated with the Constellations of the Moon and their use in Vedic Astrology

90 Minute Presentation
Each of the 27 constellations of the Moon, or Nakshatras have a specific sound with whom they are associated. Your natal birth star or asterism gives the sound, that by tradition will be the initial sound given for your first name. In ancient times, this is how horoscopes were recorded, if you know the exact pada (segment) of your Nakshatra, with its sound, giving you a name – you could always resurrect your horoscope. Especially useful – before atomic clocks, when time was sometimes measured by water dripping from a string. Beyond naming a baby, (or a company) by knowing the sound of the natal moon at birth, there are 108 sounds in the 360 degree zodiac.

Nama Nakshatras: Sounds Associated with the Constellations of the Moon and their use in Vedic Astrology

Every planet will have a specific sound association – your benefics – and your malefics. Even portions of the horoscope, or houses without planets carry a sound component. For example, your given name could associate with a difficult house or planet in your chart, or the 8th house, 22nd drekkana will carry a potential sound that could be harmful to an individual (or company). So, you might want to change your name, or your company’s name – or use your middle name.

These sounds are not only used in naming, but can be used in interpreting Prasna charts (a chart for a question in a moment of time). For example, two people interview for a job position with you. One has the sound of your Moon, the other has the sound of your Mars or Saturn. You would, depending upon your Mars or Saturn, perhaps be better off hiring the person who resonates with your Moon (or Mind), rather than your conflicts and struggles (Mars and Saturn).

Also used in Muhurta and when creating and naming companies – we will examine the energy of the sound(s) associated with the exaltation of the Moon.

Price $49.95

Nalini Kanta Das

Maha-Yogas: The most important observation in the initial judgement of a horoscope.

90 Minute Presentation
Maha-yogas consist of the SIMULTANEOUS influence of the good (1,5,9 and 10) and negative (6, 8 and 12) house rulers on different places in the chart. Example charts will show the power of these confluences. For example, if the 1st and 9th lords both influence the 3rd house in a chart, the person has at least a 50% chance of success in careers related to writing or expression. Add the 5th or 10th lord to the equation and the prediction is guaranteed. If the 8th and 12th lords simultaneously influence the 2nd house, financial problems are strongly indicated.

Mitigating influences, such as Jupiter and/or Venus saving a situation, will also be observed. Example charts will be cited, such as Sting, Tiger Woods (Leo lagna), Angela Merkel, President Obama (Capricorn lagna), etc.

The principle is simple, but it is rarely taught or observed. Nalini has 30 years experience in reading charts and this is one thing he will not overlook in any chart.

Juliana Swanson

The Navamsa in Vedic Astrology

90 Minute Presentation
Vedic astrology ascribes great value to an intricate scheme of 16 harmonic (divisional, or varga) charts, which extend inclusively from the rashi (D-1) to the shastiamsa (D-60). These divisional charts reveal the more hidden qualities of the rashi chart; in effect, they augment the information depicted in the rashi. Harmonics typically provide deeper insight into specific matters, including career, wealth, health, progeny, relationship, and so on. This class focuses on the navamsa (D-9), the most significant divisional chart next to the rashi. Discover why the navamsa is so important in Vedic astrology, and how it is best employed in your interpretive andpredictive work. Learn to quickly calculate the navamsa using a few different methods. Benefit from a streamlined overview of diverse navamsa principles and techniques culled from ancient and modern classics. These key points are further illustrated in several intriguing case studies.

Please join us for this lively and informative Webinar that will help you unlock the power of the navamsa. Juliana teaches Vedic astrology for ACVA’s online program. She is a private astrological tutor, consultant and researcher.
Brendan Feeley, M.A., D.Ay.

Venus – Love, Devotion and Strife

Venus is said to be a wonderful planet; she is sweet, affectionate, sensual and romantic, but we must not forget that this wonder Guru/Teacher is a rajasic graha and aligned with the Asuras, the terrible demons that torment us and destroy our most cherished fantasies of love and pleasure and that special other. What is the real story? Why did Lord Shiva give Sukracharya the Mrityunjaya mantra? Why does Venus have the capacity to bring the dead back to life? Why do 50% of marriages fail?

This exciting Webinar is a lively and entertaining presentation. If you want to survive the on-slaught of hormones, love, relationship and marriage, you need to tune in and learn about this sweet, kind, gentle, romantic and benefic Asura/demon Guru who will slowly undermine all of your fantasies of the perfect mate. She is a true Guru and in the end She will give you more than you had ever desired, provided you are willing to do the work that She demands. She is the Guru of the Tantrics and Her task is to initiate us into the path of the Self, a path that brings fulfillment to our deepest longing, a path that takes us beyond neurotic notions of love and fantasy that give rise to impotency and failure in matters of the heart.

“Compatibility” 90 minutes – Matching two or more charts for potentially harmonious connections (or disconnects) between two or more individuals. Christina will illustrate the concepts of compatibility in:

Love / Marriage relationships
Family relationships
Business relationships

Initially, we identity and investigate each person’s natal horoscope regarding their individual tendencies and how they personally relate regarding relationship(s). Then, we compare the horoscopes to evaluate if it is a Love connection, a Marriage connection (or both). For business the parameters are similar, yet more emphasis on the houses of business, and the Kuta Agreements focus on wealth of assets and property rather than on growth of family or children. The Navamsa is considered in both, while in Marriage we work with the Saptamsa (children) and in Business comparing, we work more with the Dashamsa – the 7th and 10th harmonic charts.

“What are Rasi Dristis and Why are They Important?” 120 minutes – This webinar will explain the significance, power, and pervading presence of the aspects from sign to sign in the zodiac. Using horoscopes of famous people as well as looking at current transits and the upcoming Kumbha Mela, the celebration of Jupiter in Aquarius, we will come to a deeper understanding of this most important of dristis, or visions, for that is what the Sanskrit word for aspect implies. If they are not important, why does Parashara teach about sign aspects even before mentioning planetary aspects? We will see the geometry that accounts for them and the spiritual principles that explain them. The rasi dristis link the actual natural realities of our lives, while the graha dristis show the things we only desire and may or may not obtain. By studying the rasi dristis, we will know better how to take advantage of their power in our own charts.

Offered by Sat Siri Khalsa Vice President, Council of Vedic Astrologers and a teacher in the Jaimini Scholars Program directed by Pandit Sanjay Rath.

“Mars: Self Determinism in the Cult of Speed” 90 minutes – Dressed in red, with a red body, who has four arms, the son of the earth, whose vehicle is a ram, who carries a trident, a spear and a mace in his hands, with a coral crest jewel on his head, making the gesture that gives boons, may divine Mars ever grant us grace.”

So, goes the invocation to Mars, whom many astrologers consider to be one of the greater malefic grahas, due to the heraldry of weapons in his capable hands.

Therefore, Mars must be examined carefully for his malfeasance, and his magnificence, for when he brings his results he brings them suddenly. Mars hands are quicker than our eyes as his shock and awe are worshipped in the cult of speed. When malefic, Mars and his moons bring fear and panic, conflict and war. The sudden rise and wealth of the international arms and finance industries and the record profits reaped based on based on threats to sovereign and financial security, or whatever fear-of-the-day security threat is in vogue! When malefic, Mars must act suddenly to drive the herd mentality into the chosen direction to reap the profit and control. From the rush to war, the quick-fix to the fast-buck you will see his malefic effects in action from the whirl of weaponry he holds in his three hands. Thankfully, Mars fourth and final hand offers a benefic boon, the boon of self determinism, the free will to chart our own destiny. For certain charts, and at certain times, and in certain planetary combinations Mars becomes a highly benefic planets, who energy and enthusiasm can suddenly change the course of events for the better. When benefic, he represents the valor of all true spiritual warriors, who lead the struggle against fear and ignorance,as Arjuna in the Gita. This class will teach you quickly grasp which hand of Mars you are dealing with to avoid the blows and accept the boons. You must do so quickly to survive in the cult of speed.

“Astrological DNA — Medical Jyotish:” 90 minutes – Autumn means its time to transition from Pitta programs to Vata pacifying plans. Everything is a combination of Kapha, Pitta and Vata. We find this especially true for those who live where they experience complete seasonal changes. Every sign exhibits the dosha qualities. Each planet has a dominant quality. Each sign has an associated quality. Christina will cover the medical astrological basics; and also present the Medical Drekkana, which are associated with the 36 Drekkana of a Natal chart. Medical issues are such high profile now, as “baby boomers,” are aging and epidemics are flourishing. Don’t miss this one!

“Fine Tuning Astrological Analysis and Predictions with the Bhava Kundali (House Chart)” 90 minutes – The division of houses (bhavas) is one of the most controversial and least understood topics in modern astrology. Whereas Western astrology has about 25 different house systems, Vedic astrology has only a few. The rashi chart is the most important foundation chart used by most Vedic astrologers, whereas the bhava chart is a secondary chart that rests on the basis of the rashi chart. Using precise rules, the two can be blended for deeper understanding and more accurate predictions.
