JupiterEvery month, as the ACVA news observes the sidereal month’s changing of signs, we use the current location of the US Capital, Washington, DC.

We begin the month of December with the Moon just entering exaltation in 00’26 Taurus, the Sidereal Sun in Scorpio (Anurada) vargottoma, Mercury sandi at 29’16 Scorpio, Venus in 5’06 Scorpio and Mars in 23’26 of Cancer. Rahu & Ketu at 27’48 Sagittarius and Gemini respectively and vargottoma, Jupiter at 26’56 Capricorn, and Saturn at 9’00 Virgo.

December 2nd Mercury moves to Sagittarius into aspect with Rahu and Ketu (this is unstable, challenges mental clarity and can produce earthquakes and fire/air type disasters. After Mercury passes the degree of Saturn (9’) things improve a bit. (Dec. 10th it will be 12 degrees)
Exalted Full Moon in Taurus (go outside and look at it.)

December 14th Jupiter sandi at 29’00 Capricorn in debilitation

December 15th Sun sandi at 29’00 Scorpio (Jyestha)
New Moon (Jyestha)

December 16th Sun moves to Sagittarius

These three days 14th, 15th and 16th will have some travel challenges. In the event you must travel -- Take extra time. Don’t rush. The new moon occurs in Jyestha Nakshatra, ruled by Mercury the planet of intellect. Mercury transits afflicted by conjunction / opposition with the Nodes, and the mind can get muddied (when the Moon is new, it is also combust the Sun) – Travel early in the day. Travel rested.

Ganges River

December 20th Jupiter moves into 00’ Aquarius This begins the Year of the Kumba Mela. Every 12 years Jupiter enters Kumba (Aquarius). This is the year that the Saints leave their abodes and caves and come out to bless the public. Thursday January 14th is Makar Sancranti (when the Sun also enters Capricorn) and is the first of the bathing days (Snan) when people take their holy dip in the Ganges. We will cover more on this in the ACVA News next month.

Jupiter from Aquarius no longer aspects Saturn. (however, for much of the month, Jupiter and Saturn aspect each other in the Navamsas) Jupiter will now influence Aquarius, Leo, Gemini and Libra. The sign experiencing the intensive focus of planetary alignment will be the sign of Gemini. It will receive the influence of Jupiter, Saturn, Rahu and Ketu for the next 18 months. I would encourage anyone with Gemini dominant in their charts to follow their transits and / or consult their personal astrologers to assist them through this challenging, though sometimes exhilarating transitory 18 month period.

Mars changes to Retrograde in debilitation in Cancer.
(retrograde motion is produced due to the relationship of the orbits of the planets).

Some authorities feel that a debilitated planet when moving in Retrograde motion cancels its debilitation. In any event, Mars will continue to aspect Jupiter, but not reciprocally.

Venus becomes sandi at 29 Scorpio

December 21st Venus moves to 0' Sagittarius
Winter Solstice in North America

December 24th Mercury, Rahu and Ketu are all 24 degrees. Mars Rx at 25. So, if you have to build a doll house, a bicycle or a train set to help out Santa it would probably be a good idea to not wait until Christmas eve for that project! Mental clarity along with angry Mars energy will be prevalent.

December 25th Well, the Nodes will be the same degree as Mercury at 27’ Sag and Jupiter will be in Dhanishta which is at least good for wealth and valuables. The moon and Saturn will be in an interesting connection in each other’s stars. Moon in Uttarabhadrapada and Saturn in Hasta..

December 26th Sun and Saturn in the same degree of 10 in kendras from each other (Sag. and Virgo).

December 27th Mercury becomes retrograde (27’45) Sag. moving back towards Rahu at 27’11.

December 29th Moon exalts in Taurus. We get a second exalted Moon this month, this time in Gaja Keseri yoga due to Jupiter’s movement into Aquarius..

December 31st New Years Eve is a perfect time to meditate as we go from 2009 to 2010. There will be a total lunar eclipse with the Moon in Ardra. Beginning the year in Rahu Dasa. Rahu rules poisons so people drinking and driving on the roads are at higher risk for accidents. Especially so in areas where Pisces and Virgo are rising. The positive to this, is that Jupiter will aspect Ketu and disposit Rahu from a much better position now that its debilitation cycle has completed! We can look forward to May 2nd 2010 when Jupiter reaches Pisces, its own, and on that day, Moon will be in Sag forming Hamsa yoga. Rahu will be much improved when this happens, as its Dispositor will be in its own sign. Truly the road to financial recovery in the macrocosmic sense.

ACVA wishes you all a wonderful Holiday season and a Happy New Year!

One final note for 2009 from Christina

Chandra - June 15 1998 to November 15 2009
Chandra – June 15 1998 to November 15 2009

Rahu and Ketu will be causing many transitions for some of us in their new stations of Gemini and Sagittarius. I say goodbye to my little Chandra who passed just as Ketu crossed her natal Sun. Note the degree of the Gemini Sun and the degree of Ketu. Her heart gave out.
