ACVA News - November Planetary Tips

The Nodes Rahu and Ketu Change Signs In November!

Every month, as the ACVA news observes the sidereal month’s changing of signs, we use the current location of the US Capital, Washington, DC.

We begin the month with Sandi nodes of 00’ 21 as Ketu retrogrades from Cancer to Gemini and Rahu from Capricorn to Sagittarius.

ACVA News Planetary Tips November 2009

As the nodes leave Water and Earth signs you should notice an increase in world wide disasters, high magnitude earthquakes, bombings, explosions. As they enter their new stations in Air and Fire signs they bring the potential of air and fire type disasters (planes, explosions) beginning now and as they move across on November 2nd. This drama additionally increases due to the fact that Venus will be 29’39 Virgo (debilitation sandi) at the same time in an exact Kendra (square) from both nodes. Venus is the karaka (significator) for vehicles. Me, I’m not travelling that weekend. As she moves into her own and moolatrikona sign of Libra. This will improve the position of the Sun, in Libra – as the ruler of the Sun is no longer 12th from the Sun in debilitation, but now more supportive in the same house and in the sign he rules.

November 5th the Moon will move to Gemini with Ketu. My experience of this conjunction the last time (18 years for the nodes to complete the 360 degree zodiac cycle) is that this conjunction can be “crazy making.” It can throw your Vata dosha out of balance (see the articles this month by Avani on Vata season and keeping up your immunity).

Equally, depending upon your natal chart and this transits’ specific influence – it can increase intuition, precognition and dreaming. Cancer people might have trouble sleeping as this hits their house of sleep (12th).

November 11th Mercury become Sandi in Libra moving to Scorpio on the 12th.

November 14th the Moon will move into Sagittarius joining Rahu. This will be the first time in 18 years that we have had this conjunction. (the last time Rahu was in Sagittarius was 18 years ago.) What will be particularly troubling, initially is that the Dispositor of this Rahu is Jupiter (the ruler of Sag), and Jupiter continues in its transiting debilitation in Capricorn.

We refer to the nodes as Upa Grahas. Where planets are called Grahas (graha means to grab, and planets “grab,” energy to themselves) Upa Graha means shadow grabber. The attract energy, and are given full weight in planetary influence in Jyotish.

We call the nodes indicators of Karma. Karma is the law of action. What goes out, returns. Do unto others, as you would have them do onto you. The rulers of the nodes at birth, and at any given time by transit, are known as the karmic control planets, or the vehicle in which the karma (current life experiences) will manifest.

So, you see why Rahu, in its initial move to fiery Sagittarius causes concern. Once Jupiter moves to Aquarius, this situation will lift a bit, and once Jupiter goes to Pisces a much bigger uplift for Sagittarius.

Jupiter Key
Nov 1, 2009Jupiter continues in Capricorn
Dec 19, 2009Jupiter moves to Aquarius
May 08, 2010Jupiter moves to Pisces
Rahu / Ketu Key
Nov 2, 2009Rahu / Ketu move to Sag / Gem
May 3, 2011Rahu / Ketu move to Scorpio / Taurus
(yes, in their debilitation, but at least Venus will be exalted, and Mars will be in Pisces too.)

Rahu and Ketu stay in sandi (sandi means the last or first degrees of a sign) position technically from November 1st until they hit 28’50 on November 15th. Many people take the last two and first two degrees of a sign as sandi (or weak) in position. Analogously it is like have a foot in one boat as you step into another boat. Not yet in either boat and very wobbly. I remember first hearing that analogy from Jyotishi Bill Levacy and I still love it. As a brilliant graphic artist, he always makes such wonderful visual images with his words of description and definition.

As the nodes hit 28 degrees, presumably improving their “sandi,” status, keep in mind that other factors in the sky still make for an unstable reality. For example, The Sun will be 29’42 Libra, leaving its sign of debilitation and moving into Mars ruled Scorpio, a friendly sign for the Sun, yet still in two boats. Because of the two simultaneous changes, I would take caution when travelling around the 15th of November. That means Saturday the 14th and Sunday the 15th. It is a weekend. If you must travel during challenging transits, intend to travel early in the day, have a plan to count your belongings every time you go from one place to the next, and get to the airport much earlier than you think you need to get there.

For those of you planning to attend the ACVA live Webinar class – noon eastern time on November 14th. [ November Webinar Sign-up ] Plan to allow for extra time before we begin. Get your tea, water etc, dial in early. Ketu in Gemini, the sign of communication can cause ups and downs in that department too. I am teaching that class, and no I did not choose the date day with Muhurta (Jyotish techniques for choosing an auspicious day.) They asked me to pitch in (the Webinar teachers are all volunteers and the nominal student fees go to keep our online presence) so I said okay! Now that I am writing the Planetary Tips – I am wondering …what was I thinking!!! Just joking. I feel it is very important to live life without fear. You can’t just run off to calculate a chart every time you leave the house, just to go to the grocery store! (of course I have 4 feet of snow here in Colorado in my driveway right now, with a lot of Scorpio planets, so I might!). I like to quote Maharishi (Maharishi Mahesh Yogi of Transcendental Meditation) “See the job, do the job, stay out of the suffering.” Still the whole point of following your transits, or having them done by a competent astrologer is to avoid potential dangers and to be prepared to take action for potential gain. For example – say you are looking for a mate. Knowing when to accept all invitations and to tell your friends you are open to introductions can be very helpful.

Overall the nodes in Sagittarius and Gemini will influence the hips/thighs (things like sciatica and femur bone injuries) and lung disease from bronchitis to cancer. Their transit in new signs will affect everyone. I will talk about this more on the Webinar on the 14th.

November 26th Venus is Sandi at 29 Libra Thanksgiving in the USA. Venus remember is the karaka for vehicles, so be careful driving that day – watch out for the other driver etc. Also practice patience with friends and relatives. Venus rules love as well. Hold the intention to postpone frustration and fiery feelings as Venus moves from her own sign into the sign of Mars.

November 27th Venus moves to Scorpio – now receiving the aspect of her friend Saturn from Virgo and no longer receiving the 4th aspect of Mars from Cancer! Still, the depositor of the sign continues to reside in debilitation.
