Winter Solstice Time To Go Within

Winter SolsticeWinter Season brings a slowing down both in light levels and in our energy levels.

Winter Solstice marks the shortest day of the year with reference to the level of light. Or, the very middle of Winter.

It is Jnana energetically, moving from liveliness into the more contemplative, and silent energy of Winter. A very good time to meditate.

Jnana is the path of knowledge and the pursuit of moksha or spiritual liberation through that vehicle. Winter season brings the transcendence of garden growth and outward creativity into the inward stroke of expression. A time in thought where the intellect is the vehicle to transcend the mind.

Shukra

Just as the Spring brings new growth and new beginnings, Winter brings transcendence and dissolution.

It is equally the time for bright colored lights and wearing bright colors to ward off depression and to uplift the spirit. In 2009 the solstice occurs on December 21st in the US.

The interesting part of this Solstice season will be that Jupiter will finally leave its debilitation in Capricorn, for the humanitarian sign of Aquarius. Beginning the time of Kumba Mela. (more about that in January). A possibility of making deep spiritual progress occurs with this particular solstice, as it is enhanced by a very spiritual Jupiter, inhabiting Saturnís sign. Though Jupiter will no longer throw its trine to Saturn in Virgo, as it did when posited in Capricorn, for many times during the month both Jupiter and Saturn will be in mutual aspect during certain Navamsas.

It has been my pleasure to serve as your ACVA Newsletter Editor for the Past Year, and I will continue in 2010 as Editor in Chief. However, stay tuned as we will have an ACVA Student Editor beginning in January as well! Itís a surprise so stay tuned and come back next month to read all about it!

Love to you all,

Christina
