Effective April, 2010
Policy Letter - Page Three
Current Students in Transition
• ACVA learners, already enrolled in ACVA Online in 2010, will be considered for exception and evaluated for their eligibility towards the new Online certification. Those who have been accumulating hours via some of the formerly accepted learning methods, will be individually assessed by ACVA as to what hours will, or will not be accepted towards the new ACVA Online certification.
Examinations / Certification
• Students no longer take the ACVA certification exam in person at a place or location, sponsored, staffed, and proctored by ACVA personnel. The former ACVA certification process is being retired in favor of the new ACVA Online Certification, Levels I and II.
Going forward, for Levels I and II, ACVA Online learners will take 10 three week learning modules online each, with other learners in a virtual classroom, under the guidance of an ACVA trained online instructor. Successful completion of these ten online modules, for Level I and Level II, qualifies the learners to take a comprehensive ACVA Online examination.
Identification of ACVA Certification
• Successful completion of the new online exam, entitles learners to be named “ACVA Online Certified in Vedic Astrology”, Levels I or II, as appropriate. Former holders of ACVA certificates who choose to continue to name themselves publicly are encouraged to list themselves as “ACVA Certified in Vedic Astrology,” Level I or II, as appropriate. Again, there will no longer be ACVA credited tutoring, although former ACVA tutors are obviously free to instruct others privately however they choose. All instruction from January, 2010, with noted exceptions, will be guided by ACVA trained online instructors.
The new ACVA Online exam allows learners from around the world to become certificate holders in Vedic Astrology, without having to travel to a central location to take the exam in person.
Students in Transition: Exception Requests
• Learners who are in transition between the former ACVA Learning Model and the new 2010 ACVA Online Learning Model must have accumulated a minimum of 400 hours of the former 600 hours of required course credit as of the end of April, 2010. These transitional learners will be reviewed for exception on a case-by-case basis by ACVA for examination and certification.
Those learners and their tutors should contact ACVA’s office to request a transition exception. ACVA will do its best to accommodate those transitional learners up to the end of September of 2010. After that time, only online learners will be eligible to sit for the new online certification exam after completion of their required course of online studies.
